I'm trying to find a book about perfectionism and making mistakes。 This one meets those criteria, but it just didn't quite work for me。 (Also, feeling like a nerd for saying this, but: don't juggle your hamster- that is not okay。) I'm trying to find a book about perfectionism and making mistakes。 This one meets those criteria, but it just didn't quite work for me。 (Also, feeling like a nerd for saying this, but: don't juggle your hamster- that is not okay。) 。。。more

Learn from mistakes don’t avoid them A great book for young children leaning about the value of being comfortable with making mistakes - worth the read。

As someone who struggles with perfectionism, I was really excited to pick up The Girl Who Never Made Mistakes by Mark Pett and Gary Rubinstein。Even if it is meant for children between the ages of 4 and 8, I was intrigued to see how the topic was presented and addressed given the target audience。 The book is also labeled as “A Growth Mindset Book for Kids to Promote Self Esteem” which I have never seen, or explored before for children。 While on the surface, I think the story did a great job addre As someone who struggles with perfectionism, I was really excited to pick up The Girl Who Never Made Mistakes by Mark Pett and Gary Rubinstein。Even if it is meant for children between the ages of 4 and 8, I was intrigued to see how the topic was presented and addressed given the target audience。 The book is also labeled as “A Growth Mindset Book for Kids to Promote Self Esteem” which I have never seen, or explored before for children。 While on the surface, I think the story did a great job addressing the topic of perfectionism, I think it brushed over the true struggles that are associated with being labeled as a ‘perfectionist。’ While everyone’s experience is different, the general definition of being a perfectionist is that everything can be, and has to be done a specific way without flaws。 Everything must be … perfect。 Beatrice’s character shows this behavior quite well in the opening of the book: her socks match, her peanut butter and jelly sandwich is made with equal parts, she didn’t forget her homework。 She doesn’t make mistakes。 And further。。。 To read the rest of this blog post, head over to our website: A Struggle With Perfectionism Follow us on Instagram, Twitter, TikTok and Facebook @pinereadsreview and check out our website at www。pinereadsreview。com for reviews, author interviews, blogs, podcast episodes, and more! 。。。more

Friday began like any other day。 She matched her socks。 And, of course, she put her shoes on their proper feet。 She remembered to feed her hamster, Humbert, his favorite food, broccoli。 And when she made a sandwich for her brother Carl’s lunch, she used exactly the same amount of peanut butter as jelly。 When she stepped outside to greet her fans, she didn’t forget to say “good morning” and “thank you”。 They asked if she made her bed。 She had。 They asked if she forgot to do her math homework。 Nop Friday began like any other day。 She matched her socks。 And, of course, she put her shoes on their proper feet。 She remembered to feed her hamster, Humbert, his favorite food, broccoli。 And when she made a sandwich for her brother Carl’s lunch, she used exactly the same amount of peanut butter as jelly。 When she stepped outside to greet her fans, she didn’t forget to say “good morning” and “thank you”。 They asked if she made her bed。 She had。 They asked if she forgot to do her math homework。 Nope。 “What about tonight’s talent show?” they asked。 “I’m ready!” said Beatrice with a smile。 After all, her juggling act had won three years in a row。 Most people in town didn’t even know Beatrice’s name。 They just called her “the girl who never makes mistakes”, because for as long as anyone could remember, she never did。 Unlike Beatrice, Carl made lots of mistakes。 He ate his crayons and drew with his green beans。 He danced with his hands and played the piano with his feet。 Carl loved to make mistakes! At school, Beatrice was on a cooking team with her two best friends, Millie and Sarah。 To make their giant rhubarb muffins, they needed four eggs。 Beatrice went to the refrigerator and carefully chose the biggest, eggiest eggs she could find。 But on the way back, her legs slipped out from under her。 The eggs went flying。 Beatrice was about to make her first mistake。 But she didn’t! “That was close!” thought Beatrice。 For the rest of the school day, Beatrice could not stop thinking about her Almost Mistake。 On her way home from school, Beatrice watched Millie and Sarah ice-skating in the park。 “Come join us!” said Millie。 “It’s fun!” said Sarah。Beatrice watched them slip and slide on the frozen pond。 Millie and Sarah laughed as they wobbled on the ice。 “No, thanks,” said Beatrice。At supper, Beatrice barely touched her food。“Is everything all right, kiddo?” asked her father。“I’m worried I’ll mess up tonight,” said Beatrice。 “And everyone will be watching。”“Worry? You don’t make mistakes!” he said with a smile。Beatrice tried to smile too。After supper, Beatrice got ready for the talent show。First, she woke Humbert from his nap。Next, she got the salt shaker from the kitchen table。 Finally, she filled a balloon with water。The crowd sat stunned。 They couldn’t believe that the Girl Who Never Makes Mistakes made a mistake! The people in the crowd looked at each other and then back at Beatrice。 They began to giggle。 Then chuckle。 Then—finally—roar with laughter。Beatrice and the audience laughed until they couldn’t remember why they were laughing。That night, Beatrice slept better than she ever had! 。。。more

Beatrice is so well-known for never making a mistake that she is greeted each morning by fans and reporters, but a near-error on the day of the school talent show could change everything

I was surprised the papparazzi was there outside her house。

Her laughing at the stage was my favorite part。💜。 Her name reminded me of Princess Beatrice of York。

This book is perfect for every perfectionist out there。 It's okay to make mistakes and learn from them。 You can laugh it off or cry and carry on on your life。I know it's easier said than done, but as time passes by, we can learn to do that even though (as adults) it's something difficult to do。 This book is perfect for every perfectionist out there。 It's okay to make mistakes and learn from them。 You can laugh it off or cry and carry on on your life。I know it's easier said than done, but as time passes by, we can learn to do that even though (as adults) it's something difficult to do。 。。。more

This is the kind of book that a teacher might use as a lead-in to a discussion on the importance of accepting your own imperfection。 It's a tad too didactic for my tastes, but the sentiment is right。 Not a bad title to have in your collection。 This is the kind of book that a teacher might use as a lead-in to a discussion on the importance of accepting your own imperfection。 It's a tad too didactic for my tastes, but the sentiment is right。 Not a bad title to have in your collection。 。。。more

We really loved this book! Such a wonderful storyline with exciting colorful illustrations! The story follows young Beatrice Bottomwell, a girl that has never made any mistakes in her life。 Not even one! Until one day at school while learning to cook, she slips and falls with four eggs but thankfully she doesn't break any of the eggs she was carrying。 The rest of the day, she worried a lot about her almost mistake because tonight is the Variety Show。 No Spoilers。 I highly recommend this book to We really loved this book! This book has a great message on how mistakes are how we grow! I loved the illustrations and how she seemed like a celebrity throughout the book!

I thought this was a super cute book。 I felt like it showed real challenges some kids have of feeling like they have to be perfect and being scared of making mistakes。 It showed that everyone makes mistakes and that it is okay because it is what makes us unique。 I think kids would love this book because it has super cute pictures and I think they would find the ending funny。

Kelli Paterson

love this book and how it shares the message of how mistakes should be celebrated and that that is how learning happens!

This book is a good book to read at any elementary level。 It was cute and expressed a great message that mistakes are always welcome。

This book is a good reminder that whether it's you or someone you know, may seem like they always have it right they could secretly be struggling or hoping to have an off day just to serve as a reminder that no one is perfect, and it's okay to make mistakes。 This book is a good reminder that whether it's you or someone you know, may seem like they always have it right they could secretly be struggling or hoping to have an off day just to serve as a reminder that no one is perfect, and it's okay to make mistakes。 。。。more

This book highlights how you do not have to be prefect all the time。 Everyone makes mistakes, we have to learn from it。 After her first mistake I feel she is now free in a way and do not have an audience to tell you how good you are。

When we make mistakes, we learn。 But Beatrice went too far when she wore mismatched socks。

We read this book in class and I loved it。 I definitely related to the main character because I grew up as a perfectionist。 I never wanted to make a mistake, and even now as a 20 year old college student, I still get scared to make a mistake。 I have learned that mistakes are awesome and should honestly be celebrated!

Beatrice Bottomwell was a girl with a reputation。 She never made mistakes, and everyone knew it。 But on the day of the talent show, Beatrice had a very close call and it rattles her。 What if she DID make a mistake? What would happen?A little touch of hyperbole, an outlandish situation, and you've got a great picture book to help little perfectionists realize that maybe mistakes aren't the end of the world。 The illustrations are really cute。 And I have to admit, as a recovering perfectionist myse Beatrice Bottomwell was a girl with a reputation。 She never made mistakes, and everyone knew it。 But on the day of the talent show, Beatrice had a very close call and it rattles her。 What if she DID make a mistake? I liked the message that mistakes can be freeing。 The girl is a perfectionist and it leads to a lot of pressure to never make mistakes。 I have a daughter who can relate to this。 Mistakes happen to everyone and learning how to respond to them is a very useful lesson。 Knowing that they'll happen and accepting that allows Beatrice to embrace new opportunities。 I liked the message that mistakes can be freeing。 The girl is a perfectionist and it leads to a lot of pressure to never make mistakes。 I have a daughter who can relate to this。 Mistakes happen to everyone and learning how to respond to them is a very useful lesson。 Knowing that they'll happen and accepting that allows Beatrice to embrace new opportunities。 。。。more

I personally relate to this book and think it would be awesome for the classroom, especially if there are more "perfectionist" or "OCD" students。 I like how at the end the book portrays the mistake as a good thing, and that you can indeed laugh at the mistakes。 This book is good for lots of classrooms, I would definitely recommend it。 I personally relate to this book and think it would be awesome for the classroom, especially if there are more "perfectionist" or "OCD" students。 I like how at the end the book portrays the mistake as a good thing, and that you can indeed laugh at the mistakes。 This book is good for lots of classrooms, I would definitely recommend it。 。。。more

This book has such a great message that all children should hear。 It’s okay to make mistakes, nobody is perfect。 Beatrice has never made one mistake ever and everyone knows this。 Until one day she does and becomes very embarrassed。 She soon realizes it is okay to make mistakes, everyone makes mistakes sometimes。 I loved this book and would recommend for any child。 The message comes across clear and any child would benefit from reading this book。
